Personal History:
Matilde was born in Oratino (Campobasso), Italy. She came to Canada in 1964 and had a 36-year career as a banker.
An Artist is Born:
Matilde was introduced to painting in 1994 but her family has a long creative history. Her father, Severino, was an artist and sculptor in her homeland, Italy. Her ancestors were also instrumental in the development of the artistic community in her hometown of Oratino. With this family history, she has always loved, appreciated and enjoyed art. Since her early retirement in April 2000, Matilde has been taking classes at the Ottawa School of Art. She paints in both acrylics and oil and, is a versatile painter; at ease with several different styles and techniques. Matilde credits MAA member Roy Murgich and Robert Hyndman, as well as several other well-known and respected instructors, with assisting in the development of her talent and skills. Their knowledge has contributed to her becoming what she really loves and enjoys being…a painter.
